Bringing great music to the Kingwood/Humble/Atascocita area
Since its founding in 1994, the Kingwood Pops Orchestra has been thrilling audiences with "big symphony" musical performances in intimate, Pops-style settings. The Pops uses its broad palette of sounds to bring out the magic of Broadway, the majesty of the classics, and the excitement of the movies - while finding time to mix in some really sweet jazz and take a trip or two down memory lane.
Consisting primarily of volunteers from the greater Houston area, the Pops draws upon top-notch guest artists, a diverse group of seasoned veterans, and outstanding players from the Lone Star College system to serve up a feast big enough for every musical taste.
Take some time to peruse our web site and get to know the Kingwood Pops Orchestra. Better yet, come on out to experience the next concert of our 2011-2012 season, Wild, Wild West, Wild, Wild West. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on February 24th and 25th, 2012 at the Nathaniel Center in Kingwood. Why not bring some friends and make a night of it? At the break, you can mingle with the musicians and make some new friends, too. Don't miss out on the fun!
Membership in the Pops is by audition. Auditions are heard and evaluated by the conductor and a panel of qualified orchestra members. Orchestra members are enrolled at Lone Star College, Kingwood as either credit or community-education students. For more information, contact Ruth Clark at ing7679a@yahoo.com or 281-360-6238.
